Namibia health sector harnessing skills in managing increasing rates of Non-Communicable Diseases toward a national NCD strategy

Why: Barely two months after the UN high-level-meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in New York at which, President Hifikepunye Pohamba called for accelerated efforts to overcome the challenges of NCDs. Wasting no time, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Novo-Nordisk will bring over 50 public and private healthcare providers together to develop a NCD strategy to stem the rise of this epidemic in the country. The workshop will also provide health care workers with the latest knowledge on diabetes treatment and management.
